Homework, News, and Announcements

Language:


-Reading:
-Reading Response Journal Entry. Study yourselves as a reader (look at your past RRJ entries, jot notes/post it notes in your books, and your reading log) and decide why type of thinking you TEND to do (visualizing, predicting, etc.). Then set a goal to try a new strategy when you read and apply that strategy to our current reading of "The Wild Robot" (we have finished up to chapter 55). - Due Monday. 
-STUDENTS SHOULD ALWAYS BE READING AT LEAST 30 MINUTES EVERY DAY ON A REGULAR BASIS!
-ALWAYS have a "Just Right"  (grade level, appropriate, etc.) book ready for every reading class. 
-The following website you can now sign out books in the York Region District School Board DIGITAL LIBRARY!:


-Writing:
-From today's writing notes, you are to complete your essay topic's thesis statement and three supporting reasons in the boxes and bullets format (notes and support is posted on the writing Google classroom).


-Media Literacy:
-N/A.


Math:

-Grade 5: Algebra assessment now complete.
-Grade 6: Algebra assessment now complete.

-Grade 5: Began work on our Properties of Matter Final Task. Choose a "How it's Made" video.
Grade 6: Introduced final space task of building a model of the Solar System. Watch the posted videos on the Google Classroom and read the instructions for the task.


Social Studies:
-Grade 5: Persuasive writing piece to convince a non-voter or a reluctant voter to vote. Due Tuesday March 2nd.
-Grade 6: Currently on our Science unit.


Health:
-Grade 5's: I have posted 3 commercials to the Health Google Classroom. Complete "Student Resource 2: Rating Advertisements" and post your ratings in the comments section. Then complete "Student Resource 3: Advertisement Analysis. 
-Grade 6's: Choice board presentations now complete.


Visual Arts:
-Perspective drawing - Practice the skills of using vanishing points in Perspectives Drawings and try out some rough drafts using this technique. - Due March 5th.


Drama/Dance:
-Next Drama class we will do another round of our cultural theater around-the-world analysis. We will pick another example of a theater video to analyse.

-Grade 5: Study using the Skill Questions and the Concept questions posted to the Math Google Classroom. Math assessment on Friday February 26th.
