Today we will be doing Social Studies and Health. However please ONLY go over to the Health Google classrooms to access the necessary lessons and resources as there will only be a Health lesson today and no Social Studies lesson. For Social Studies today, just do another journal entry and submit your journal entries to me at the Social Studies Google classroom. This will be the end of the EXPECTED daily journal for Social Studies. If you decide to continue on with your Covid-19 daily journal for your own interests, feel free to do so, but it will not be expected by me after submitting them today.

Letter to Parents/Guardians and Students
Dear families and students,
As you know, YRDSB continues to explore different opportunities to learn from home, connecting students and teachers through technology with the safety and well-being of students in mind. With the Ministry of Education having extended the duration of the school closure, there is an opportunity for staff to offer synchronous “real time” live support to students, in addition to the asynchronous online learning environment currently provided.
As usual, I will continue to post learning activities for our class in our online learning platform each week. I will also identify “real time” synchronous activities that may involve two-way audio/video conferencing. This will offer an opportunity for students to engage with each other and with me in one-on-one, small/large groups or whole class.
When these synchronous activities occur, I will provide information as to the day, time, and login instructions.
By students participating in “real time” synchronous teaching and learning, students and families are agreeing to the following responsibilities:
Please note that participation in the “realtime” synchronous teaching and learning activities is not mandatory.
If a student is not able to participate in synchronous support, an alternative arrangement is made to ensure each student has access to the learning.
Further, students may choose to participate in some synchronous activities and not others, or decide only to participate asynchronously. If at any time you have questions about the synchronous activities, please connect with me via email.

In regards to the parade through the community...
Dear Families,
Yesterday we sent a communication regarding a parade through the community to recognize all that we are doing to be difference makers during this difficult time. In light of the fact that we are continuing to avoid all non-essential travel, we will be postponing the parade through the community at this time. However, we would still like to be able to highlight the ways in which our community is demonstrating being “Difference Makers”. Over the next little while, the organizing committee will be brainstorming ways in which we can highlight and celebrate how we are being “Difference Makers” in a virtual format.
Thank you for your understanding at this time. We hope you are all staying safe and healthy.
