Homework, News, and Announcements

Terry Fox Run TOMORROW!

As you may know, we will be holding our Terry Fox Run on Wednesday October 1st from 9:15am to 10:30am. (TOMORROW!) We will be running/walking through our regular annual path with goes through the local community. We ask the following in preparation of this run:

-Make sure your child dresses appropriately for the given activity and for weather conditions.

-If applicable, to ensure that your child has all required medical devices with them on the run.

-To remember to stay to the right on the path if they choose to walk. This will respect and not impede individuals who want to run the coarse

-To have a discussion with your child surrounding safe and appropriate behaviour when walking through the community and to respect the properties of the local residents (by staying off the grass, etc.).

Language:

-Reading:

-Describe when you've been a Curmudgeon when reading before and then write how you read optimistically. See Reading Google Classroom notes. Complete the Discussion questions posted on the Google Classroom about "Number The Stars." Read up until Chapter 4 of "Number the Stars".
-Here is our class "Epic Reading" code: ubx3440.
-STUDENTS SHOULD ALWAYS BE READING AT LEAST 30 MINUTES EVERY DAY ON A REGULAR BASIS!

-ALWAYS have a "Just Right"  (grade level, appropriate, etc.) book ready for every reading class.
-The following website you can now sign out books in the York Region District School Board DIGITAL LIBRARY!:
-Writing:
-Set goals for writing a story using the Narrative Writing Checklist. Then write a story (at least one written page). See Google Classroom notes.
-Cursive letter "D."



-Media Literacy:
-Worked on Web Design Project.


Math:
-Estimating and Comparing Numbers. Review. Complete the Concept Questions.  Assessment will be on Wednesday. 

-Here are some good math resources to explore: 

-Worked on Task #3. Students will be given more time to work on it in class.


Social Studies:
-Task #2 worked on. Students will be given more time to work on this.


Visual Arts:
-Worked on Limited Colour Palette Collage about Truth and Reconciliation. Due on Thursday, October 2nd.


Health:
-Completed Lesson #1. Introduced Lesson #2 about hunger and thirst cues.


Drama/Dance:
-Complete the last slide of Lesson #4: The Elements of Dance...it is the attachment below the top one...be careful not to do the wrong slide! See "The Arts" Google Classroom.
