Homework, News, and Announcements - 家庭作业、新闻和公告

Updates from the current day are always in yellow highlights. Work is always due by the next time we have that subject unless otherwise stated.

Language:

-Reading:

-Read up to page 69 of "To Hope and Back". Practiced making a book recommendation to a friend. We received our reading logs, which are to be maintained regularly. See notes from the Reading Google Classroom. 
-Here is our class "Epic Reading" code: ubx3440.
-STUDENTS SHOULD ALWAYS BE READING AT LEAST 30 MINUTES EVERY DAY ON A REGULAR BASIS!

-ALWAYS have a "Just Right"  (grade level, appropriate, etc.) book ready for every reading class.
-The following website you can now sign out books in the York Region District School Board DIGITAL LIBRARY!:
-Writing:
-Did a lesson about First Person Perspective. Will practice this writing skill next writing period. See Writing Google Classroom notes.
-Cursive letter "C."  


-Media Literacy:
-Presentations ongoing for our Web Design projects.


Math:
-Classifying Whole Numbers Lesson #4 Action Task and Your Turn Questions. Assessment will be Thursday next week.
-Here are some good math resources to explore: 

-Hinterland Who's Who assignment introduced and worked on. Will continue to be worked on next week. 


Social Studies:
-Worked on Task #2. Due by next Social Studies class on Tuesday October, 20th.


Visual Arts:
-Introduced Stippling and Pointillism with the theme of Remembrance. "Graded" night sky and silhouettes now due. See The Arts Google Classroom. 

Health:

-Completed Hunger and Thirst Cue responses on chart paper. Completed in class.

Drama/Dance:

-Introduced the Dance Research Project. Will be worked on next day. See The Arts Google Classroom.

Field trip to Cold Creek Conservation Area tomorrow!

In preparation for our Field trip tomorrow, here are a few notes to remember:

*We will be outside for the entire day.  Students are encouraged to dress in layers and in appropriate footwear for the weather/conditions and physical activity.

*Students will need a refillable water bottle, lunch and snacks 

*There will be no electronics, valuables, etc. permitted, so they are to be left at home or at the school.  

*We will need to leave promptly at 9:10am, so punctuality on the day is critical. We will not be able to wait as we need to arrive by 10am in order to have time for all 4 activities that have been planned.

Photo Day!

This is a notice to all students and families that Wednesday, October 21st will be our annual photo day.  Please note the date if you are planning to encourage your child to dress for this occasion. 

Individual pictures will be taken of each student and there will also be a class composite photo.
