This post is for our school day for Monday May 17th. 

Tuesday will be Day 4 on our daily cycle and we will be following our regular schedule as we always would, so you will be doing Literacy, Math, Visual Arts (where we will do Social Studies and Science) and Health. You will be going to the Google classrooms for each subject to get your work that I have posted.

Today will be SYNCHRONOUS learning, meaning that  we will be live for most of the day except for 25 minutes each block for independent work and except for recess and lunch. 

As usual the school day begins at 9:10am.

Language:

-Reading:

-Read a Non-Fiction book and pick a part from the text. Then read some different sources about the same part and identify what is the perspective of each source. Full instructions in the Reading Google Classroom.

-STUDENTS SHOULD ALWAYS BE READING AT LEAST 30 MINUTES EVERY DAY ON A REGULAR BASIS!

-ALWAYS have a "Just Right"  (grade level, appropriate, etc.) book ready for every reading class.

-Writing:

-We looked at our heart maps and found a poem(s) that reflected something on our heart maps...something we connected to. Then we read over the Poems we have written so far. We had the option to write some more poems to add to our portfolio. Then we were to choose a seed Poem (that we will develop further later on). The explanation is on the Writing Google Classroom and in the comments section.

-Media Literacy:

-Media Literacy task now complete. 

Math:

-Grade 5: Complete the Measuring Angles Using Non-Standard Units Minds On from the Math Google Classroom.

-Grade 6: Read over the Solving for Unknown Angles Minds On.

Science:

-Grade 5: Conservation of Energy Inquiry Booklet now complete. Now due.

-Grade 6: We are working on planning the design of our game and building it - Due Wednesday May 19th.

Social Studies:
-Grade 5: Complete the "Create Your Own Legend" map by coming up with your own symbols/colours for the map and including all necessary elements of a map (title, compass rose, etc.).

-Grade 6: Currently in Science Unit.

Health:

-Grade 5's: Presentations now complete. 

-Grade 6's: Complete the "Skim and Scan" attachment. Read the Action prompts on the Health Google Classroom. We will play "Cannabis Jeopardy" next time.

Visual Arts:

-Northern Lights activity NOW DUE.

Drama/Dance:

-We have now began our Dance Unit.
